The FILM TECH APP was launched at a special DPP event ‘Meet The Online Pioneers’- which featured presentations from Facebook and some of the best production talent delivering to Netflix and YouTube.
“We are regularly approached by people who work in production asking where they can find out more about subjects such as codecs, memory cards and delivery specifications.” said DPP Managing Director Mark Harrison, “Now they can have that information in the palm of their hand”.
The FILM TECH APP has been designed to de-mystify technical jargon for production staff and contains dozens of articles on common software and hardware products, explanatory videos – as well as some DPP reports that were previously only available to DPP Members.
Articles are organised into 6 sections: BASIC, FORMAT, CAMERA, POST, DELIVER, and DATA allowing users to select the section most relevant to their needs. Once loaded, all of the articles from the FILM TECH APP will be available offline.
The German version of the FILM TECH APP was originally released by transfermedia in May 2016. For the international version all existing content was reviewed and augmented. The content was then translated and quality checked by the DPP and its Members. New content will be added regularly following user feedback and requests, and as industry trends develop.
“We are delighted, that the FILM TECH APP has now been launched to the film and television production community worldwide.” said Peter Effenberg, CEO of transfermedia “Our partnership with DPP will ensure that all of the latest media industry developments are shared with our mobile app users.”
The FILM TECH APP will be available for iOS devices in the App Store and for Android devices via the Google Play Store at £7.99 / €8.99. Demonstrations of the new app will take place at the Media Production Show on 14th June. A special launch offer, available until the end of the show, discounts the app to £4.99/€5.49.
